
Paul Freeman
Paul Freeman was born in Calgary in 1969 and grew up in Edmonton. Paul
began attending the Alberta College of Art & Design in 1994. As a student
he developed a practice generating original images on colour copiers.
Freeman graduated at the top of his class, receiving the Governor General's
Award for Academic Excellence and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Excellence
in Interdisciplinary Studies in May 1998. In 2003 he received the Enbridge
Emerging Artist Award.
Since graduation, Freeman has returned to
Edmonton and continues to produce and exhibit his photographic and installation-based
artwork. He is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts degree at the
University of Alberta. Freeman is a Lead Artist at the Nina Haggerty Centre
for the Arts, an art centre for adults with developmental disabilities. He
also works as an art facilitator with special needs groups at The Edmonton
Art Gallery. Freeman has a 12 year-old daughter named Izabella.
